About
At its core, the Keeners is a play with music—a raw and resonant story set in 1970’s Ireland, where a family of women earn their living “keening”. When a charismatic band promoter arrives promising fame and fortune, the past meets the future in a symphony of tradition, loss, and renewal. With its blend of music, humor, deep emotional stakes, and richly drawn female characters, the piece is both artistically and commercially inviting.
